Getting started
Create an account with your email — no password, just a 6-digit code — pick a plan, and your 7-day free trial starts. Import what you already have (DOCX, Markdown, or plain text) or start a document from a template. Everything lives in folders you control, versioned from the first save.
Tracked changes and the assistant
Ask the assistant for a change in plain English. Every edit it makes arrives as a tracked change you accept or reject, one at a time — never a silent rewrite. Nothing is applied to your document until you approve it.
Compliance checks
Run a document against a rulepack (GDPR, UK DPA 2018, PECR, CCPA, EU AI Act) and StartupDocs returns findings, each with a proposed fix you can apply as a tracked change. These are automated checks, not legal advice — for anything unusual or high-value, have a solicitor review the final document.
Templates and company profile
The template library gives you professionally drafted starting points for England & Wales — employment contracts, NDAs, founder agreements, and more. Fill in the blanks, and the document opens in your workspace. On the Team plan, your company profile fills your details into every template automatically.
Exporting
Export any document to PDF (print-ready), Word (.docx, for a lawyer to redline), or Markdown. Your exports are always available — if you ever cancel, you can export everything in full before your plan ends.
Trials and billing
Every plan starts with 7 days free. A card is required, but you are not charged if you cancel before day 7 — cancel any time from the plan page in your account. During the trial you have full functionality, exports included.
Every first subscription also carries a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you do not have the documents you came for, or you are unhappy for any reason, email us within 30 days of your first payment and everything you have paid is refunded in full. Documents you exported stay yours. The full promise is in our terms.
Still stuck?
Email [email protected] and a human will answer. Questions about your account, plans, or enterprise are all welcome. You can also use the “Report a problem” button on any document to flag an output that looks wrong.
